The Nurture Room can provide support for the areas listed in our For individuals section, with treatments specially tailored for the needs of children.

Academic & emotional tutoring

In addition to our other services, we now offer competitively priced academic tutoring for all primary school children, provided by a qualified teacher with 20 years' primary teaching experience across all year groups in a number of different schools. This service provides a holistic approach that will especially benefit those children that lack confidence and need nurturing to attain their full academic and emotional potential.

For children in school

Psychoeducation and emotional management

The Nurture Room is now offering in-school workshops to all children in Key Stage 2, in the form of 3 fun, 45-minute sessions of learning through games and quizzes.


Working in small groups, the children will learn:

  • Why they feel the way they do, what their physical symptoms mean, and how they can manage problematic feelings in positive ways

  • How to apply strategies to help themselves when they are having emotional difficulties, how to ask for help when they need it, and how to effectively verbalise their feelings to others

For teaching staff

Training in mental health awareness

The Nurture Room is now offering mental health awareness training for teachers and other staff. Sessions can be tailored to the size and needs of the school, but staff will learn:

  • How to spot early signs of mental health issues and how to provide the right support within school

  • Which referral routes are likely to be most successful for the child

Training in mental health awareness

The Nurture Room is also offering an ongoing telephone and email advice subscription service for a small monthly fee to support staff with signposting to appropriate agencies and support with completing successful referrals.

Our tailored, holistic approach

We know that the health and mental well-being of children in school can be impacted by the health and well-being of the staff, and vice versa.


We also know that no two schools are alike, and therefore one-size-fits-all training schemes are rarely successful in the long term.

That's why we're able to offer a tailored, whole-school coaching package, with interactive and engaging content for children, staff and parents, backed up by ongoing support.

About the therapy sessions

I am passionate about improving the emotional well-being of people of all ages, and making a positive difference to people's lives. I believe that is reflected in my practice.

My aim, through counselling, is always to nurture the individual's own ability to cope with their stress, anxiety, low mood and the ongoing issues in their lives.

My therapy sessions are relaxed, comfortable and discreet. They are usually 1-to-1 and face-to-face, but can also be online or, in some circumstances, can be telephone appointments.

All the sessions are talk-based, some with an element of writing and often with homework, which can take the form of, e.g. completing journals, reflection, making and recording personal observations, etc. The work is done in a collaborative manner and every care is taken to make the client feel in control and at ease.

About the therapies

Cognitive behavioural therapy

A therapy that involves breaking issues into thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and behaviours. The therapist and client work together to break toxic cycles. It is used to address issues such as anxiety, obsessive behaviour and depression.

Transactional analysis psychotherapy

A talking therapy that helps you gain an understanding of the effect that past relationships and experiences have had on your current mindset and how, in turn, that affects your behaviour and attitude to those around you, which elicits particular responses from them. What you learn about yourself helps you to improve your relationships.

Solution focused therapy

A talking therapy that is aimed at bringing a positive approach to the way you deal with any situation, by focusing on the end goal rather than the problem. Clients are supported to visualise their preferred futures and to work out the steps they need to take to bring about positive outcomes.
